XfrogTune is used
to greatly reduce the complexity of branching structures of trees, with minimal
noticeable artifacts. XfrogMLOD, the software behind XfrogTune, can be licensed
for realtime use.
XfrogTune works with
any Xfrog model that is constructed with tree and leaf components, and allows
the user to change the polygon complexity while intelligently retaining the overall
look of the model, by employing specific visual perception tricks, and by dropping
polygons that are non-critical such as secondary and tertiary levels of branching
which are usually hidden, dropping leaves in a random patterns and enlarging remaining
leaves when the model is in the distance to keep exact overall shape and the relationship
of foliage to branches intact. We suggest that you download the XfrogTune zip
which contains a step by step tutorial to see how applicable XfrogTune is for
your specific needs.
Xfrog Tune Versions Currently release is XfrogTune 1.0 for all flavors of Windows. It is available at the bottom of this page as a 30 day fully functional download.
Plugins/Export
XfrogTune can export a single or series of models (static LOD), which can be defined as a range of polygon complexity, in OBJ or VRML format. The series of models can then be used as static LOD in your game or vis sim or complex landscape.
Customers Many customers, such as Chromosphere and Intel Research, are using XfrogTune ( and XfrogMLOD) to create models useful for game and realtime applications. Large Architecture customers, such as Archigraphica, and Virtual Vision, are finding XfrogTune useful for creating simplified background trees for complex renders and landscape renders.
