Character Rigging Plug-in for Maya

The Setup Machine 2 enables Maya users to easily and quickly rig a wide variety of CG characters. With just a few clicks, TSM2 installs a high-quality skeleton and proxy, adds a control rig, and applies basic but accurate skin weighting to human, animal, and creature models, a task that normally takes days.

The rig TSM installs is designed for maximum flexibility and control, allowing you to contort and deform the rig in ways that are impossible with most rigs used outside of major feature animation studios. Powerful integrated tools like smart FK/IK switching and IK pop elimination make animating with a TSM rig easy and fun.

And because it builds its rig with standard Maya nodes, the resulting rigged character can be used in any copy of Maya. The Setup Machine is perfect for anyone who needs a great character rig fast.

Fast Rigging

TSM allows you to bring in simple “Widgets” that can be easily and quickly fit to a character. From there, it’s only a few simple clicks to get an entire rigged character with proxy and point weighting.

Stretchy and Deformable Rigs

Grab your character’s controls and pull them into any shape you’d like. TSM’s rigs are designed with the idea of putting as much control as possible in the hands of the animator, allowing for everything from deforming the shape of the torso to controlling the exact curvature of an arm with easy, direct controls.

Advanced Spine Controls

The TSM spine comes with advanced controls such as independent shoulder and hip manipulation and a collection of controls and fields that allow you to track the shape and size of the your character's torso.

Smart FK/IK & Isolation Tools

The Setup Machine's unique auto stretching system completely eliminates IK pop, but that's just scratches the surface of the pose control. TFM's isolation system makes it easy to maintain poses and every system - including the spine and fingers - can be switched between FK and IK.

Finger Manipulation

TSM’s finger controls are designed to allow you to manipulate the whole hand or any individual finger easily without recourse to clumsy layered controls.

Power Over Your Arcs

Using TSM's FK & IK tools along side its bone-bending options allows you greater control over your character's silhouette and gives you the freedom you need to get your animation arcs just right.

Tail System

TSM's tail rig makes it a snap to create tails, tentacles, or trunks that can interact with and grab onto other objects in the scene.

Proxy Tools

The included proxy switch in all TSM rigs allows for more detailed manipulation of your character's skin and gives you additional power over the way you work with constraints so you can get the motion you need.
