Rhino 4

To be an effective designer today, you need tools to quickly develop
your designs and accurately communicate them to everyone in the product
research, development, marketing, and manufacturing or construction process.
Start with a sketch, drawing, physical model, scan data, or only an
idea—Rhino provides the tools to accurately model and document your designs
ready for rendering, animation, drafting, engineering, analysis, and
manufacturing or construction.
Rhino can create, edit, analyze, document, render,
animate, and translate NURBS curves, surfaces, and solids with no
limits on complexity, degree, or size. Rhino also supports polygon meshes
and point clouds. Rhino offers:
Uninhibited free-form 3-D modeling. Tools like those found only in
products costing 20 to 50 times more. Accurately model any shape you can
imagine.
Extreme precision. Design, prototype, engineer, analyze, document, and
manufacture anything of any size no matter how small or how large.
Unrestricted editing. Revise freely without concern about how you got
there or where you want to go next.
2-D drafting, annotation, and illustration. In addition, flatten 3-D
surfaces into 2-D patterns and drive laser, plasma, and water jet cutters.
Large project organization. Work with both large models and large teams.
Compatibility. Exchange files with your other design, drafting, CAM,
engineering, analysis, rendering, animation, and illustration software.
File read and repair. Fix extremely challenging IGES and mesh
files.
Direct connection. Support for wide variety of 3-D digitizing arms, 3-D
scanners, and 3-D printers.
Customization. Easy-to-use tools let both you and software developers
make Rhino fit your special needs.
Short learning curve. Focus on design and visualization without being
distracted by the software.
Speed. Even on an ordinary laptop computer Rhino is fast. No special
hardware is required.
Affordability. Ordinary hardware. Short learning curve. Priced like other
Windows software. No maintenance fees. Worldwide support is included.
Industrial Design
Better design. Faster to market.

Industrial design is not only about great design. It is also
about great products,
on time.
Great designs become great products only when the tool provides the freedom and
accuracy to capture those designs.
Rhino is that tool.
Rhino is a playground for your imagination and the workbench
where your experiments become masterpieces.
With Rhino you'll orchestrate concepts from sketches to styling through
engineering and see your mock-ups manufactured without losing a beat.

Marine Design

There's more to a boat than its hull. Rhino gives you the
freedom and flexibility to design the complete boat with the accuracy needed for
manufacturing. Rhino is a great companion product to your other CAD/CAM tools
including FastShip, GHS, MaxSurf, Tribon,
AutoShip,
AutoCAD, and
ShipCAM, as well as most CAM and marine analysis
products.

Jewelry Design
Design. Show. Build.

Rhino is a playground for your imagination and a workbench
where your ideas become masterpieces.
With Rhino you can realize your most complex ideas with no need to rely on
someone else to interpret them. Create the 3–D model and show the client a
rendering before beginning production. Once the design is approved, send it
directly to 3-D printing or CAM to produce the model for casting. You can then
use traditional techniques for manufacturing.
Rhino is used by some of the most creative jewelry designers in the world.
Rhino's NURBS technology provides the flexibility and
accuracy needed for your most innovative, complex, and intricate designs.
Besides rings, pendants, broaches, and bracelets, Rhino has the power to make
any body ornament that today's demanding customers request.
Use Flamingo's advanced rendering tools for Rhino to show your clients
photorealistic images of your jewelry.
Rhino plug-ins, available from our third-party jewelry
design partners, let you customize Rhino to fit your design process. Add
libraries of gems and findings. Use wizards to build rings, channels, bezels,
and pavé.
Rhino can also help manufacture your piece with plug-ins
that run CNC machines or print directly to rapid prototyping machines and 3-D
printers. Use these tools to quickly and accurately produce wax casting masters
or models for silicone molding techniques.

CAD - CAM
Designing for manufacturing is not easy. Modeling for manufacturing is even
harder. Rhino provides the freedom, control, and accuracy to model anything and
then manufacture directly from the same model.

10' Rigid Inflatable Boat
By Eric Jolley
This RIB for Rendova Boats was modeled in Rhino. The molds for the boat were
milled out of solid blocks of foam using the 3-D NURBS surface model on a large
5-axis mill.
Special modeling for manufacturing features include: accurate
numeric input, model analysis and repair tools, sections, silhouettes, DXF/DWG
(including AutoCAD 2000), ACIS, Parasolid, STL, and IGES support for AlphaCAM,
AusCAM, AUTON CAM, EZ-CAM, CAMSoft, Craft Mill,
MasterCAM, Millit, SurfCAM, SUM 3D, UniCAM 3D,
VisualMill, and many other CAM products.
Rapid Prototyping
Print your design in 3-D.
Design. Print. See. Hold. Feel. Show. Try.
There is nothing like having the real thing during every step of the
design process.
With today's rapid prototyping technology and Rhino's modeling tools, you
can hold your imagination in your hand.
Rhino directly outputs STL, the language of 3-D printers and rapid
prototyping systems.
Unlike many modeling products, Rhino provides the tools to create a
"watertight" model even from models designed in other modeling products.
Special features for rapid prototyping include: model analysis, model
repair tools, and accurate STL mesh control.

Reverse Engineering
Rhino connects you directly to 3-D digitizers, allowing you to directly
capture your existing models.
Rhino has special commands for capturing 3-D points, sketching 3-D curves,
and building 3-D surfaces directly from physical models.

Reverse engineering. Most design is redesign or retrofit. With Rhino you
capture what came before, no matter how large or small. Start with an accurate
model. Don't guess.
Rhino has inspection tools for comparing your CAD model to the
manufactured parts.

Rhino interfaces directly with Boulder Innovation Group,
Faro, MicroScribe, and Romer/CimCore 3-D digitizers.
Graphic Design
Move to 3-D
Do your clients keep asking for yet another view?
Are you working from a product design or an animation?
With Rhino's 3-D tools you can quickly develop your designs without worrying
about starting over with each change.

In Rhino, you can develop your designs using sketches, images,
illustration files, CAD files, multimedia scenes, or physical models.
Rhino has a long list of tools for graphics designers and illustrators,
including AI file support and familiar spline creation and editing tools.

Multimedia
Model Faster. Render More.
There are so many sophisticated rendering,
animation, and special effects tools, yet so few advanced modeling tools.
Rhino's advanced NURBS modeling technology
fills this gap.

Modeling with Rhino has many unique advantages.
- Free-forms fast.
- Faster modeling techniques than mesh modelers.
- Any resolution mesh can be generated from a Rhino
model.
- Import many files types including 3DS, LWO, IGES, DXF,
AI, STL, 3DS, and most image formats.
- Export to most animation products including 3ds max,
Softimage, Lightwave, RIB, POV, VRML, and many more.
- Accuracy needed for manufacturing. No need to remodel.
